The Bay State is getting millions of dollars to fight the fat.  On Thursday, the federal government plans to announce a new program, piloted in Hampden County to push healthy eating among low income families.  The government announcement of the $20 million dollar initiative aims to break the stigma that low income families suffer the most from obesity and illnesses.  So they’re planning to offer a discount on fruits and veggies that come from local farms.

As they enlist soldiers to man operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, military recruiters are finding themselves on the front lines in a different sort of battle — one against the obesity epidemic.
