Nutritionally speaking, enrollees in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program would be better off buying more lobster and prime-cut beef than what they’re spending most of their money on. It wouldn’t be financially responsible, of course — not for them, on their limited monthly allowances, and not for the taxpayers who keep the food-stamp program running. But in terms of nutrition, there’s no doubt.
